Ruth Lyon

Ruth Lyon.jpg

Day: Friday

Newcastle’s Ruth Lyon celebrates strength in vulnerability and the allure of imperfection, challenging societal norms and igniting a journey towards self-acceptance and empowerment. Her music is a form of offbeat anti-folk, commanded by her soulful vocals and witty yet raw lyricism; influenced by such acts as Fiona Apple, Aldous Harding and Regina Spektor.  She also an advocate for the disabled community having been a wheelchair user since the age of 21. Known for fronting the cult folk-rockers Holy Moly & The Crackers, she began developing her solo music in 2020 and this is now her focus and new musical identity. “I love being in a party folk-rock band where everyone’s dancing around, but the music that really speaks to me is more minimal - emotional, raw, honest.” She’s just recorded her debut album with John Parish and is gearing up for her biggest year yet.
